Absences / Lates / Safe Arrival

Purpose

Purpose

A safe arrival program is a system of procedures which are performed together with daily school attendance taking.  Parents and guardians are responsible for their children’s safety.  The safe arrival program is a mechanism that parents and schools can use to account for any pupil’s unexplained failure to arrive at school.”  Excerpt from news release from Ontario Ministry of Education and Training February 2 1999.

Procedures

If your child is unable to attend school, please telephone the school at 368-2932 and leave a message.  Upon the child’s return to school, please send a note to his or her teacher.  Regular attendance is necessary to ensure your child’s success.  Excessive absenteeism will be followed by the Board’s Attendance Counsellor.

If your child is late, he/she must report to the main office to sign in upon arrival both morning and afternoon.  Late arrivals are very disruptive to the learning of others and so we ask that you make every effort to assist your child in being punctual.
